Toronto Maple set to release top player for deal worth $83 million with

Frank Seravalli, an HL insider, believes Mitch Marner won’t be a Toronto Maple Leaf the following season.

Since the season concluded, Marner, who will soon begin the last year of a six-year contract worth $65,408,000, has been the focus of trade rumors. Marner has indicated that he would like to stay with the Maple Leafs, but Servalli believes that is less likely than five percent of the time.On May 19, Sersvalli stated on DFO Rundown, “I think there’s a five percent chance, maybe even less, that he’ll be a Leaf next season.”

Then, on May 20, Seravalli reiterated his position on his show, stating that he thinks Marner will probably be dealt this summer.

It’s not a choice; they have to make significant changes. After the season concluded, Brendan Shanahan stated, “The message is that everything is on the table and we have to consider it all.” I just cannot fathom going through this again for a tenth season in a row. Having invested so much in your core, even though you know going into the season that you would either move Mitch Marner or sign him to an extension makes no sense. It makes no sense for him to start this year, the last year of his contract. I believe Mitch Marner has a single-digit percent probability of wearing a Maple Leafs uniform.Currently in the last year of a contract worth $10,903,000, Marner will become a free agent with the conclusion of the 2024–25 NHL season.
