Magic Johnson provides a candid assessment on the Celtics’ collapsed Mavericks.

In Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics disproved everyone’s theories. They engaged in their customary game of balanced basketball, where all players contributed and it was profitable. All of the players on Joe Mazzulla’s team, including Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, Al Horford, and Derrick White, had their chance to shine.Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks raised the white flag early in this contest. Magic Johnson noticed this and thought about the contest in his own way.

The Mavericks were the best in just one statistical area, and that was thefts. Eight balls were stolen as a result of the Celtics’ heinous executions versus a blitzing Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic.

Other than that, the game was close in no other significant area. Even after the Mavericks narrowed their earlier 29-point deficit to eight, it was still a complete thrashing.

Magic Johnson stated that the Celtics’ defense was the sole reason for their significant NBA Finals Game 1 triumph.

The Mavs were utterly outclassed by the Celtics defense, which dominated them. The Los Angeles Lakers icon exclaimed, “Like I said earlier this week, the Celtics just have more depth and firepower than the Mavs and it was on full display tonight!”

It was true that the team led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown was making the Mavericks take bad shots. Due to this, Luka Doncic’s team’s field goal percentage was a dismal 41.9 percent. The fact that they were also restrained from the outside made matters worse. The Mavericks’ dismal long-range shooting percentage of 25.9 percent sums up the game for them.

What made these pictures all be taken? That’s because the Celtics’ defensive coverage soon exposed several of Jason Kidd’s typical plots.

The dunker position was filled right away, and men like Dereck Lively II, Daniel Gafford, and PJ Washington could easily receive easy lob passes with little to no backcuts. The only person who could create for the Mavericks was Luka Doncic, since all of the passing lanes were blocked.
