The odds are in favor of his being the next Lakers coach.

The clock is loudly ticking down for the Los Angeles Lakers, who are still without a head coach just weeks before the NBA draft.

Their goal is to fill that vacancy prior to the draft but that is easier said than done, especially after the public fiasco that was their pursuit of UConn’s Dan Hurley.

According to BetOnline, via Ryan Ward, JJ Redick is once again the frontrunner to become the new head coach of the Lakers.

He has 1/5 odds, ahead of James Borrego (3/1), Sam Cassell (9/1), Chris Quinn (16/1), and others.

After nearly a week of non-stop Hurley news and speculation, all eyes turn back toward Redick.

Just over a week ago, it seemed that Redick was the clear favorite to be the team’s next head coach, with various outlets reporting that Jeanie Buss and Rob Pelinka were keen on his basketball IQ, relationship with LeBron James, and potential to stick around for many years.

But a lot has changed in a short amount of time. Now there are reports that Redick may want to avoid the Lakers and could be unhappy with being the team’s second-best option.
